The occasions to serve formal coffee and tea may not be a daily occurrence, but that's no reason to let gorgeous cups and saucers collect dust. From displaying flowers to corralling utensils, one of our favorite entertaining experts Joe Nye shows us how to put these pretty cups to work.
Pretty Place Settings
"I like using teacups as a place card of sorts," says Nye. "At each setting, place an individual bloom in a teacup; it's charming and delightful."
Floral Displays
Instead of a static centerpiece, Joe recommends, "marching flower-filled cups down the center of the table and mixing in votive candles or tall tapers." We love this look, especially with dainty espresso cups!
Silverware Storage
For a buffet-style meal, Nye likes to use sturdy mugs as an attractive and efficient way to offer up utensils. "It's a good trick for staying organized, especially on a confined surface."
Delicate Desserts
For smooth treats like mousse and sorbet, teacups are Nye's go-to dessert bowl. "They conform to the shape of the cup so the presentation is a perfect fit."
